We are Loved: A Unique Nonprofit Helping out the Foster Community

In the state of New Jersey alone, there are approximately 6,000 children who are navigating the complexities of the foster care system, supported by numerous nonprofit organizations.

Among many nonprofit organizations in New Jersey, one stands out for its unique and profound impact on the lives of foster children: We Are Loved.

Since its inception in 2019, We Are Loved has grown from modest beginnings to significantly enhance the lives of foster children and instill hope and progress in the community.

Founded by Phyllis DiNardi, We Are Loved has made a significant difference in the lives of  49 foster children. Their initiatives began with Holiday Boxes for Monmouth County's foster youth and expanded to seven counties in New Jersey's foster community. Over 600 children received these boxes in 2023, underscoring the importance of your support.

We Are Loved's 25 dedicated volunteers meticulously assemble Holiday Boxes, Birthday Boxes, and Comfort Bags at the Trinity Church in Red Bank, where they are located. These efforts ensure that children and teenagers in foster care receive special treats and essentials tailored to their needs.

The Birthday Boxes, a cherished initiative among recipients, bring joy to children in Monmouth, Ocean, and Middlesex Counties. These boxes, filled with everything from cake mixes to gift cards, result from the collaborative efforts of volunteers and sponsoring families, ensuring that each child feels celebrated on their special day.

In addition to these ongoing projects, We Are Loved introduced Comfort Bags this year. They are designed to provide solace to children encountered by police during critical incidents. These bags include comforting items such as snacks, coloring books, and stress relief toys, helping to ease the children's distress in challenging moments.

Beyond their direct support initiatives, We Are Loved actively engages the community through fundraisers like Chick-fil-A Spirit Nights, Bingo, and other fun events. These events not only raise funds but also foster greater awareness in the public eye and promote participation in supporting foster children.

We Are Loved also partners with nonprofits that share its mission to support and empower foster children. The organization extends its impact by providing foster kids with essential life skills, mentoring, and support where needed. It continually seeks more volunteers to join its cause, inviting individuals to contribute through donations, organizing efforts, or simply spreading the word.
