P.J. Sweeney's Set to Close in Brick

P.J. Sweeney’s Restaurant and Irish Pub on Brick Blvd will be closing its doors for good.

The restaurant announced early Monday morning on Facebook that the restaurant was sold.

There is no set date that the restaurant will close, but it will likely be before the end of the month or at the beginning of next month.

Sweeney's has been in the Brick area for eight years and has become a popular place for many to know and love.

They are well known for their entertainment, sports, food, and cocktail drinks.

Most people who live in the Brick have been to this popular area at least once.

On the weekends, they would have bands come and perform on the outside patio.

Some had even got their start at Sweeny's.

P.J. Sweeney’s, however, will be having one last big appreciation party on August 20 from twelve to four for both their customers and staff members.

They will have an extensive buffet, raffles, and giveaways for everyone attending.

With Sweeney’s closing its door, most areas are left vacant, but another popular restaurant in New Jersey has already bought the space.

MJ’s Bar and Grill will be taking over the space.

MJ's have been popping up in different areas and bought out other restaurants such as The Sitting Duck in Long Branch and The Cove in Bayville.

They will spend some time remodeling the restaurant and Irish Pub.

They hope to open their doors on Thanksgiving, but they may have to open later, depending on how long the remodeling takes.

They have plans to make the restaurant just as fun as Sweeney's with a DJ, food, happy hour and other popular events that they are planning to have in the future.

However, there may not be an end to P.J. Sweeney's, the current owner, Eugene Gillepsie, has plans to open another restaurant near the Jersey Shore area soon after he takes time off to see his family in Ireland.
