Some stories are told well, and some stories are told decently but have a downfall to a certain degree.
However, many stories that are told often come from the life experiences of others. Nora Ephron, one of the greatest writers of all time, used her life experiences to cover many of her novels. Her book Heartburn covers her life experience when her second marriage to Carl Bernstein fell apart; however, it has a different aspect.
In Heartburn, we meet the main character, Rachel Samstat. Who thinks that everything in her life is perfect. However, she discovers that her husband, Mark, is having an affair with someone. Things for her fall apart, and it is a well-written story that covers everything that happens from here. Honest conversations and real-life things happen when marriages fall apart, and the kids are in the middle. In this novel, Mark and Rachel have a little boy named Sam and a second one on the way when things worsen.
Since this story is based on a true story, it is written and told, which is a fascinating aspect of everything that occurred. Ephron used this book as a poison arrow to describe her ex-husband and expose some of the secrets that occurred during his affair, among the other things that had happened.
It was not until later that the public realized and learned what her story was truly about. It went unnoticed for almost 20 years, and finally, in the early 2000s, it went to the press.
The book is exciting and covers many areas where a book usually wouldn't. The book also is an accidental time capsule of what used to be New York. At a time when food was popular, Rachel was a food reviewer, which made the story more interesting. Throughout the novel, before each event, readers can seek out recipes written before another thing occurs.
Ephron wrote this book well to attract the audience she wanted. That said, a film was made about the book in the late eighties. Mark continued to be Mark, but his last name was changed, and at that point, Bernstein was involved with everything. It took them five years to finalize their divorce. Bernstein wanted to read the manuscript before it was published.
The book has done well over time and has received multiple mixed reviews. Many have questioned it only because it airs dirty laundry to the public, especially with having two kids in the middle of it all. However, the book has aged well into the 21st century and is still read and discussed today.
